Millions of people around the world trust Norton. This page is dedicated to the Norton brand, products and services. I am bitterly disappointed in Norton, so much so, that with 280 days left to run in the subscription I cancelled the renewal and removed all the software. I used my mobile to raise this with Norton support only to be told that only Microsoft could deal with this, I contacted Microsoft and was told that this was a scam, to force restart and run a scan, I used the Norton scanner and it found nothing, when I ran the Microsoft scanner it found the files the scammers managed to load on my PC, deleted them and restored full working order. Opening a news item in Microsoft edge locked my PC with what appeared to be 'Windows defender' screen and a banner warning not to power off as this would result in the loss of data and the Windows activation key. With the good reviews I felt safe with the protection it offered, what happened has changed my view of this security software forever. The only annoying issue I had with Norton 360 was excessive disk activity on bootup, my PC would be very slow for anything up to an hour, the way I worked around this was to boot the PC and leave it running for about one hour before I wanted to use it. I purchased a subscription for the deluxe version of this software in January 2021 and renewed it in 20. Absolutely not worth the money - the costumer service was helpful though, which is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. Windows Defender is far less annoying and works too if you do not do anything crazy on your computer.
Just called again, and he was very nice but told be it would take another 2 weeks for the money to appear in my bank account because the refund was blocked somehow. I requested a refund through costumer service. They did not email me in advance to ask if I wanted to stop or keep going with my Norton 360 subscription - they just went ahead and withdrew 89,99 euros.
It is almost like they're the virus - the pop-ups won't close, you get commercials saying specific darkweb activity was detected but you can't see what happened until you pay this much extra, whenever stuff does not load right the pop-up to restart your computer does not close. Norton works well as antivirus software, but the pop-ups are so annoying.
